Fitting end to a chaotic season. There are some key decisions that have to be made, one of which is how much to offer an overrated center who will certainly be looking for a max deal but doesn't deserve it. The other, which may prove more difficult, is ho...  more

With Kobe out for possibly weeks, do the Lakers make the playoffs?

theFranchise   50/50. I think they keep treading water in the 8/9 position in the West. Howard will have to continue his recent success. Maybe we'll get a preview of what the post-Kobe era Lakers will look like.

Jerry Buss bought the Lakers in 1979, during those 32 seasons the Lakers have made it to the Finals 16 times, winning 10 NBA championships. Jerry's commitment to making the Lakers the model of success was displayed through his investments in premier playe...  more

avifinkelstein   Single handedly raised the competition for the 13 or so NBA titles the Boston Celtics had before he bought the Lakers, or the nine straight that they put together prior to the arrival of Dr. Buss?

theFranchise   Over that period they had 4 owners if my wikipedia is correct. From a single owner perspective, I can't name one other individual that has done more to further the game and build a culture of winning with the longevity and level of success that Dr. Buss did.

They should save Jerry Buss the trouble and bury him face down.

The Lakers just look lost. You keep watching thinking they just have to figure it out at some point, but they don't. Tough year.

Ouch. Looked good for 3 & 1/2 quarters... Wonder how much time Howard will miss again.

I like this Kobe 16.0, moving him into a facilitator role could be a brilliant move. Nice way to round out his legacy.

This may be the most dysfunctional team I have ever seen. Get rid of Howard now. Trade him before he hits FA as you dont want to deal with that headache.

theFranchise   This move needs to happen now or Kobe can kiss any chance at a 6th ring goodbye.

I think the NBA just brings in Mike D'Antoni when they need story lines for major market franchises. I will concede that he is uniquely qualified for this Lakers gig in that he makes a much better media punching bag than Mike Brown, but how could he be a ...  more

avifinkelstein   1. Money. 2. If Kobe retires sooner rather than later. And I think they think that Howard may not be the brightest player and wouldn't know how to thrive Post-Triangle. So after two years, then what? But I also think they won't win now because the guy do...  more

theFranchise   They can't be thinking post-Kobe right now, they have to be thinking win now while you still have one of the greatest players in the history of the NBA lacing 'em up for you. Bringing Dwight and Nash in changed the chemistry and no one has proven to be be...  more

The Mothership is going to ride the fact that the Lakers aren't playing good, all season long. They did it with the Heat 2 years ago, they are going to do it again. And now Kobe gave them more fuel for the fire by telling everyone to "Shut up and let...  more

Lakers 0-3 in the preseason so far. Welcome Eddie Jordan and the Princeton Offense to LA. You suck as bad as the city. I don't know what Kobe was thinking when he requested that. That was about ten days after he said the 2012 Olympic Team could beat t...  more
