The Twins have let go of 2 coaches and reassigned another, but in my opinion they stop one short. We have had a ton of pitching issues in the past 2 years, so IMO Rick Anderson should be let go as well.

Glad to see the Nishioka experiment is over! I am also glad that he is taking blame for his performance and has waived next year's salary and the buy-out.

JW07 Unfortunately, Super Pavario's Twins career is probably done. He did some good things when he was here, but we certainly don't need to be rebuilding our pitching staff with high mileage pitchers that are at risk for injury.
This has got to be the best news to come from the Twins all season. I didn't like how they kept hanging on to these type of players that constantly under preformed. Good move by the Twins here!

RuFiOhhh Mauer and Morneau's contract are really holding them back. It's too bad they can't move morneau for some kind of pitching or at least just to get rid of that salary.
August 21, 2012
TwinsFan1 As much as Morneau has down for the Twins, and as much as I like him as a player, I have to agree with you, he is just not helping the Twins win games as much as pitching would.

Mauer, though his conract is an albatross, should be able to pay for itself. Marketing the team and maintaining interest and buzz about Target Field has a lot to do with the local hero. I feel like people use it as a built in excuse for the lack of payroll. It's always going to come down to pitching and finding sturdy, young contract controlled players to fill in around your core guys. I think signing Willingham and extending Doumit with team friendly contracts shows that we're getting back on the right track. We do need to find MLB ready talent for our starting rotation. Whether that comes via trade or free agency, I don't know. less

Scrubs I was hoping we could take him along with us to Seattle and convince the Mariners that they need him to prevent a backlash from the Asian community following the Ichiro trade.

This year, the destination is Safeco Field. I'm pissed Seattle dealt Ichiro before I got there, but I'm excited none the less. As I prep for my trip, I thought I'd share some of my favorite stadium features from my past excursions. I'll leave some tidbits in the comment section below this post periodically throughout the day.

Building a stadium in its presence must have been an easy decision. Palm trees and a gentle sea breeze greet you as you approach the park, but you can't fully appreciate the beauty until you venture to the upperdeck behind homeplate. The view is impeccable.
Scrubs The fountains at Kauffmann Stadium: The K pay tribute to Kansas City's monicker "The City of Fountains." Water features in the outfield provide spectacular shows. Really, every park should have fountains. They're awesome.

The ivy, the scoreboard, the marquee...but there is something to be said about watching a game from across the street. Now don't get me wrong, this has been commercialized to the point where it's not remotely close to a young fan catching an innocent glimpse at his idols. It's expensive and the Cubs get a cut of the proceeds, but still, where else is this even an option?

However, in two games, I never once waited to use a restroom. I don't know how this is possible for a sold out crowd of almost 40,000 in a hundred year old stadium, but it sure is. And its not like I didn't pee often. Between pre-gaming at Cask n' Flagon and drinking $8 beers, I made my rounds. In my experiences, no other stadium can boast of such accessability and efficiency. less

For as bad as the Twins have played this year, that record over that span would have put them 5 games out of first, which is a lot more manageable than the 11 games they are out right now. They are also second in runs scored since that point behind only the Angels. They started 10-26 before May16th. This only proves that you may not be able to win the division in May but you can certainly lose it. Hopefully next year they can start better so that they can make a push for being the team the Yankees knock out in the first round of the playoffs. less
The Twins are intent on finishing this season strong despite their slow start, even if they enter Friday trailing the White Sox by double digits in the American League Central standings.
We're about to see Frank Viola's daughter do some Olympic diving. She was born in 1987, the same year her old man won the Series with the Twins. That has to be some kind of omen, doesn't it?
Scrubs Does Jack Morris have a daughter? If he does, I hope she was born in '91 and she finds a sport to do in Rio '16.

RuFiOhhh If baby boomers are the name given to people born after men came back from the war, then what would you call the thousands of kids consumated after athletes win some kind of championship?
Nishioka has played 3 games with the Twins this year and he has 3 errors. I thought he was suppose to be a gold glove caliber short stop. The Twins just need to cut him for good. let him go back to Japan and win batting titles.

He hit poorly in Triple A and I'm secretly cheering for him to go hitless in his second stint in the bigs. No glove, no stick, and a noodle arm. The Twins' staff admitted that the scouting report on him was inaccurate. I agree that we just need to eat his remaining contract. It irks me that they deemed JJ Hardy too expensive, but immediately throw a 3-year deal plus posting fees towards Nishi.

RuFiOhhh I thought it was an awful pickup from the start. Position players from Japan are basically a crap-shoot. There is not many Ichiro Suzuki's or Matsui's out there.

He's risen his average to the respectable .275 range and his power seems to be coming back. He has a long way to go before he gets back to his pre-concussion self, but his recent play is certainly encouraging. The recent resurgence begs the question: Do we put him on waivers and try to trade him for pitching?
RuFiOhhh He doesnt have the best contract so he is not the easiest to move. He'll bring in some ok prospects but I don't know if anyone will give away any kind of impact player for a player that is one shot away from being done playing.

JW07 We can't put him on waivers. There's a minor fire sale possibly starting but I don't think Morneau will be involved.
